Right-of-Way
For new transmission facilities, Oncor acquires land rights for access, construction, operation, and maintenance. These land rights are generally in the form of an easement, which gives Oncor the right to use the land for the purpose of constructing, operating, and maintaining its utility facilities, but which also allows the landowner to continue to own and use the property in a manner that does not interfere with the Oncor facilities.
Survey Permission
- Oncor representatives meet with each landowner crossed by a transmission line project to obtain access to the property in order to survey for the structure locations and centerline of the right-of-way.
Compensation
- Oncor negotiates fair and appropriate compensation with affected landowners on an individual basis. Oncor will discuss the value of the easement for the right-of-way crossing each landowner's property and make every effort to reach a fair and reasonable settlement.
Construction and Operation
- Oncor representatives are available during and following construction of a project to address questions, concerns, or problems that landowners may have with the construction and operation of the transmission facilities.
