Load Management Program
How Does it Work?
Oncor pays incentives to Service Providers who work with local commercial and industrial facilities to achieve documented, summer peak demand reductions in those facilities.
The program is designed to make it easier for more businesses to reduce their peak energy demand and help meet the state's energy goals.
The demand reductions must be verified by Oncor in order for the incentives to be paid. We do this by reviewing data recorded on Interval Data Recorders (IDRs) and calculating the amount of demand savings achieved through the "curtailment." The Service Providers determine how the incentive payments may be shared with the customers.
Who is Eligible?
Commercial and industrial facilities must:
- Be located in Oncor’s service area
- Have at least 750 kW of electric demand
- Be able to reduce electric load (called “curtail load”) on short notice during the summer peak demand period.
The summer peak demand period is defined as the hours between 1 P.M. and 7 P.M., Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday, June through September, excluding weekends and federal holidays.
What Projects Qualify?
- Each project must achieve a total estimated demand saving of at least 100 kW during the summer peak demand period.
- A single project may involve the Service Provider identifying "Curtailable Load" at more than one customer.
- Load reductions must be verified by Oncor.
