Infrastructure
Texas’ leaders understand that a solid transportation infrastructure is essential to our state’s continued success in economic development.
- Home to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the world’s third-busiest, and Fort Worth’s Alliance Airport, the world’s first industrial airport, North Texas companies can be certain that their people – and their goods – can move easily and quickly throughout the U.S. and beyond.
- Texas’ network of more than 300,000 miles of public roads and more than 10,000 miles of rail is the largest in the nation, including 8 interstate highways and the I-35 NAFTA corridor.
- Texas is the only state with its own fully-contained electric grid, ERCOT.
Competitive Renewable Energy Zones (CREZ)
- Texas offers a diversified energy portfolio – including both local fossil fuels AND abundant renewable energy sources – to meet the future energy demands of our state, which grows by more than 1200 people each day.
- With about 10,000 MW installed, the Lone Star State has led the nation in installed wind capacity for the past five years.
- Recognizing this vast potential, Oncor leads Texas in constructing almost 1,000 miles of new transmission lines to deliver clean wind energy from West Texas to North Central Texas.
- Oncor currently has 14 CREZ-designated projects underway and plans to invest more than $1 billion on CREZ transmission line projects over the next few years to cost-effectively integrate wind generated electricity into Texas’ electric market, ensuring a growing renewable supply of electricity for more than 400 communities we serve.
