Restoration Process
Our basic restoration philosophy at Oncor is to safely restore the greatest number of customers as soon as possible. The decision what to fix first is based on this philosophy and illustrated in the diagram below.
- A transmission line power outage affects many thousands of customers. High-voltage transmission lines deliver electricity to distribution systems that carry power to neighborhoods and businesses. Because the loss of a transmission line or service would affect so many consumers, this type of restoration would have the highest priority.
- We also give high priority to restoring service to public facilities, such as hospitals and fire stations.
- Our next priority would be outages on the system that delivers power to homes and businesses. This situation can affect several hundred people.
- In emergencies, power outages at single residences or businesses would follow all of the above in priority.
